I’ve been doing Boxing/MMA for about a year now and I figure i should learn to work a speed bag?

The big secret in speed bag workouts is having a good solid platform and a super pro swivel. A good 10 x 7 or medium size speed bag is good to learn on. Later, once you have mastered the bigger bag, you can move down to the pro size peanut bag or 9" x 6". Go slow at first either using the 2-1rhythmm or 2-2. Hitting the bag with 2 lefts as it rebounds followed by 2 rights, letting it rebound. This is a good way to leather it’srhythmm and then build speed from it. Either is good and will become second nature to you. I’ve had aspeed bagg in my home for 50 years, since a teen to present. Very good cardio, plus fun too. Could never master jump ropingg, but this was easy. Good luck.

I’m 15, 5′11, and 127 pounds. I used to run, and do football, but when i tore my meniscus in my knee, it left me crippled and unable to play a sport with a lot of running. I was good at running and catching, but now I can’t really get a major way to exercise, and was considering getting a heavy bag? I’m not even sure, but my dad’s nurse is a boxer. So I was thinking, is boxing a good sport(does it build muscle)? If so what sized bag should I get to train? Any input would help.

Any of the bags I linked to will do great. Remember to invest in excellent equipment and to use good gloves and wraps.

Do lots of oblique sit ups, wood choppers, pushups, squat thrusts, and pull-ups will increase the necessary strength.

Pay attention to your body mechanics.

Shift your weight in the direction of the punch, twist your hips into it, roll your shoulders behind it, focus all the way through the target and snap it back twice as fast as you sent it out.

Remember to train your ability to handle stress as much as you train to hit. That way you will not freeze when you should be hitting.

The childs mother had tried to kill herself repeatedly and is taking lithium currently for her Bi-polar disorder. My fiance thinks she is dangerous to herself and others. I have a heavy bag stand that moves all around when you are using it. It has places to put weight plates but they are just too expensive to use just to hold down the stand. What is the cheapest heaviest thing that I can easily buy to hold it down? my best guess is sand bags. Is there anything better?

My stand has holes drilled along the base that lets you bolt it to the floor. I’ll never do that, but it remains a possibility.

It’s a hanging (from ceiling) punching bag (70lb) designed for boxing. But how do i hang the fooawker? i live in a cheap apartment so .. if not done correct, i’m afraid it’s gonna collapse hhaha

find a ceiling joist it’s the only possible way withouy rattling the entire complex.

I was thinking about joining Bally’s, but I attend school and I don’t have a lot of time. I would hate to waste money on a membership when all I want to do is cardio and aerobics. If anyone know of any good kickboxing classes or even step aerobics classes, please let me know. Thanks )

my last pair of mediums are big, the waistband hardly streatches, they should fit my size though. i have some medium boxer briefs from there and they are kinda smaller then most medium boxer briefs. would small boxers be too small?

Ummm, you shouldn’t wear really tight boxers its not good for your penis you should give it some space..wear the size that fits you good and doesn’t give you any skin irritation. Like if you wear tights and you run with them cuz of sweat its gonna go red and gonna hurt.
